Exact Solutions Announces Encryption Handling in iWatch™ for SQL Server 2005
Exact Solutions, Inc. announces on-the-fly encryption handling for users of iWatch with Microsoft’s SQL Server 2005. This enhancement solves a significant practical issue when using sniffer-based monitoring tools such as iWatch, since SQL Server by default encrypts the login packets.
To support a variety of operating requirements and internal security standards, the company supports three methods for handling encrypted logins, including direct decryption and a bypass method exploiting the Event Notification facility of SQL Server 2005.
For companies that wish to standardize on iWatch across several standard database platforms, this removes the concern that critical performance data might be unavailable to the application due to encryption, allowing them to enjoy the same level of utility with SQL Server 2005 that they now experience with other database platforms such as SQL Server 2000, Sybase, Oracle, or IBM UDB/DB2
Exact Solutions is a privately held software firm with focused specialization in SQL Capture & Performance Measurement. The company’s flagship product, iWatch, is deployed as global standard by major financial enterprises and Fortune 1000 companies. Founded in 1998, the company is headquartered in New York City, and operates a development lab and support center in Mumbai, India.
